LISTENING IN
CONFLICT
DETAIL DRIVEN LISTENING

Asking questions can often demonstrate a desire to understand the issues of the speaker in more detail. In small amounts this can be useful, however in large quantities, about insignificant details, it can distract the speaker and possibly make them feel insecure about the issue they are speaking about introducing self-doubt.

In this video Marion describes how distracted she felt by the barrage of technical questions. It also made her feel like she didn’t know enough to be talking to Sam about the issue yet. People in conflict do not like to feel interrogated!
